One of my favorite things to do is digging into God’s word. Sometimes we need to be reminded why God’s word is so impactful, beautiful, perfect and true. We are going to go over 8 reasons to read your bible daily.
God’s love for us is never-failing, and never changing. It actually never grows for us just like it never goes away; it never gets any more for us because God is not changing on either end. He not only will never love us less but he actually loves us as much as he ever will. His love is 100% full for us it will never increase or decrease. God’s love is constant. It’s so amazing. The bible helps us remember God’s love for us.
Hebrews 13:8 NLT says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Malachi 3:6 NLT says "I am the LORD, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.
Numbers 23:19 NLT says God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?
Isaiah 40:8 NLT says The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever."
The bible helps us get a deeper revelation of how wide, long, high, and deep his love is. It gets better as we experience it!
Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT says And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
We are living in a day and age where people are calling evil good and good evil and not referring to the word of God as the ultimate truth for their lives. Obviously, non-Christians but Christians too are victims.
We really have to look to scriptures to see what God says about every particular subject pertaining to life and godliness. It’s there in the Bible and he will tell us what is good and what is evil and that should be our standard for life.
How are we going to know whether something is good or evil and how we should feel about it and we don’t even know what God’s word says about it? It’s really important to know what God’s word says so that whenever lies, deception and evil are facing us we can say NO and stand on the word of God.
Isaiah 5:20 NLT says What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.
We are obviously living our lives for Christ, and whenever we walk in step with Christ we are going to live the best earthly life that we can live.
It’s pretty obvious that our best life is going to be with Christ- reigning directly with us, physically when we have no sin, and we are completed and perfected so we also find how to live our best earthly lives in scripture according to Christ.
Reading the Bible helps us to live our best earthly life because the bible contains God’s plan, vision and purpose for our lives.
Proverbs 28:25 NIV says The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the LORD will prosper.
Proverbs 13:21 NIV says Trouble pursues the sinner, but the righteous are rewarded with good things.
Psalm 1:1-3 NIV says Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers.
We need to have a big view of God. If our view of God is finite and not infinite there is a problem. We need to be in awe of God’s power. If we are bringing him down to human level then that’s not going to work because we are making a false God, a humanized God, fleshly God. NO!!! We have to look at the scriptures to see and to remember to be in awe of God’s power.
When we know how powerful God is it changes our lives in so many ways. If you are like in a dry season or you feel like God is far or maybe you are losing heart for the Lord a little bit, you should go and read about God’s power and let it put you in awe.
Exodus 15:6 NIV says Your right hand, LORD, was majestic in power. Your right hand, LORD, shattered the enemy.
Ephesians 3:10 NLT says God's purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
Matthew 10:28 NLT says "Don't be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
John 10:28-29 NLT says I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father's hand.

This is where we find joy. This is where we learn how to find joy. God lays it up for us in his scriptures. The bible is the way for joy- this is the way you find it and how you keep it. If you are lacking joy in any way definitely search the scriptures.
Proverbs 10:28 NIV says The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.
Psalm 119:111 NIV says Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.
John 15:11 NLT says I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!
1 Peter 1:8 NIV says Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Romans 15:13 NLT says I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Philemon 1:7 NLT says Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God's people.
That is the most elemental and foundational reason why we read the bible. To know God more – the more we know God the more we understand who he says he is not who we as humans or my mama, grandma, papa, grandpa, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife; whoever says God is.
You have to know who God says he is and we find that in the word of God. So we just get a basic understanding of the faith which in turn grows our faith. So, if you want to grow your faith read the word of God daily.
2 Peter 3:18 NLT says Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.
1 Peter 2:2-3 NLT says Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness.
Ephesians 4:15 NIV says Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
Mark 4:20 NLT says And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God's word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!"
Jeremiah 12:2 NLT says You have planted them, and they have taken root and prospered. Your name is on their lips, but you are far from their hearts.
John 15:2 NIV says He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
This is a big one and it is one that people don’t always like. We don’t like to feel uncomfortable and be face to face with our sin but we read the word of God to see our sin. It puts our sin before us. (read Romans 3:10-20 and Romans 7:7-25).
Not only does it elevate God in our eyes but if God is truly being elevated then we as sinful humans are actually going to be lowered. And it’s kind of contrary to what a lot the western culture of Christianity teaches. We should be lowered in our eyes and that’s actually a beautiful thing because the less we view of ourselves like I am a sinner in need of Christ, I need him daily, I need to walk with him, I need to see my sin before my eyes, I need to live daily repenting of my sin in a repenting contrite heart toward God.
That is a beautiful place to be. Just like the Beatitudes say Matthew 5:3 NIV says "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
We should know our worth in Christ and we should also know our place with Christ and it is definitely lowered. So, the scriptures help to put our sin up to our face and help us to have contrite hearts and repent and love God, even more, that way.
We bear fruit with keeping with repentance. So, if you want to grow and want to see fruit in your life there has to be repentance of sin that is holding you back from that growth and scripture will show that to you.
Sometimes we feel so worn down and so hopeless. I don’t know what your life and situation is; sometimes even though we are Christians and we love the Lord, God allows us to go through crazy things. You may even ask wow God how would you allow me to go through this? Why would you allow Job’s entire family to die? Everything that he owned to just perish? And he is left with nothing? Why would you allow that?
And we really can search God’s word and know who he is so that we can find hope – in who he is and what he has for us. Sometimes we get so narrow-minded and we get so worldly focused and we are just looking at what we have or what we don’t have, what we get, and what we don’t get, what we go through and what we don’t get to go through on this earth. And that is not even our main focus.
Our life is not really made to just build our little perfect kingdom here but it’s to live with an open hand to God saying I will take what you will give me but my hope is on the future with you in paradise, in your kingdom so I am going to build your kingdom now. And so the Bible really helps us to be heaven-focused, to have hope for the future. Earth is not our home our citizenship is in heaven. The bible helps us to remember where our hope lies.
